The Foot Locker Five Borough Challenge is basically a race within a race, where five runners are chosen- one from each of the five boroughs in New York City – to run the first half of the race together as a team. After 13 miles, the team can breakaway, and the runner that finishes first wins a Tiffany trophy. This year, I was chosen as part of the team. The theme is “working mothers.” These past few weeks being part of the Foot Locker Five Borough Challenge has been beyond my wildest dreams! I don’t quite know what I have done to deserve this opportunity but I am relishing every moment. I go out for my daily runs now and giggle thinking about the possibilities on Marathon day. Winning? Maybe! I am getting to know my team mates and am looking forward to hearing more about their lives and goals during our run together on Sunday. I enjoyed the Press Conference, felt comfortable, laughed with Kelley, Susan, Lisa and Barbara as our children wiggled and fidgeted about. I felt comfortable talking to reporters as my oldest son sent flying paper airplanes overhead. I was nervous at the personal interview – the big light in my face and isolated chair in the middle of the room with the large camera pointing at me! It took me a while to relax and speak personal. As marathon Sunday approaches, I feel extremely excited with high energy that is presently bottled up inside of me waiting to burst out! I feel more vibrant each time I put on my running shoes. Win, lose or tie, I know we ladies are going to have a fabulous day! I can’t wait!
