Spike Lee is having a big year in footwear. The 20th anniversary of his classic film “Do the Right Thing” brought two special edition AJ1 Retros, and now his classic Spizike is getting the boot treatment, hitting House of Hoops in October.
It still maintains some of the key Jordan fusion elements from his original sneaker like the triangular lace holders from the AJ4, the lace lock and mesh from the AJ5, and the tongue of the AJ6. The dark cinder upper is a rich blend of nubuck and other leather finishes, one that clearly echoes the elephant print of the original Spizike. The solid black midsole has visible air in the heel, and the outsole is nearly identical to the original Spizike, keeping the printed Jordan in the heel.

[...] The Spiz’ike seems to be the exception to the fusion rule, because while many Jordan fans bash everything that’s not an OG model, they still embraced the Spiz’ike with open arms when it dropped a few years ago. In a smart move, Jordan Brand has kept Spiz’ike colorways fairly limited, so when this new batch of winterized boot versions drop, they will surely be a welcome sight to a lot of sneakerheads. A few weeks ago, we gave you a preview of some upcoming Spiz’ike boots, and now we get a better look at the first colorway to drop. The shoe sports a Dark Cinder upper with a Black midsole and accents, giving it a winter look without sacrificing any of the design touches from the sneaker version. These will be released in October in time for you to gear up for the cold, but for now, you can get a great detailed look at them. [Via FootLockerUnlocked]. [...]
