If the purpose of a running back is to gain yards on the ground, then there’s no arguing that Emmitt Smith is the most prolific running back in NFL history. In 15 NFL seasons with the Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals, Smith shattered the career rushing mark. Smith’s 18,355 yards are 1,629 yards ahead of Walter Payton and no active player is even close to breaking into the top 20 of career rushing yards. With that being said, why is Smith’s signature Reebok shoe, the ES22, not as well known as the man they are named after? That should change tomorrow when the Reebok ES22 is retroed for the first time with two OG colorways and two brand new ones. The football inspired turf sneakers feature Reebok’s Hexalite cushioning system, which some might recognize from Allen Iverson’s Question signature shoe. The two OG colorways of the ES22 are the Cowboys inspired navy/black/white and black/white – both with gum outsoles. Both OG colorways are exclusive to Foot Locker. Smith’s alma matter – the University of Florida – inspires the brand new royal/fiery orange/white colorway, also with a gum colorway. The fourth release is gravel/tin grey/jade. Greatness defines what Emmitt Smith was as a running back so it’s only appropriate that his signature shoe makes a return during Foot Locker’s Week of Greatness.
The Reebok ES22 in all four colorways release tomorrow, November 21st, at Foot Locker and online at Footlocker.com for $140 starting at 8am EST.
