A pair of Jordan Retro 1s will drop at House of Hoops by Foot Locker today and they are a pretty recognizable pair of releases.
The first release in this pair is the Jordan Retro 1 white/varsity red-black. The Air Jordan 1 changed the basketball sneaker game forever. At a time when your choices for footwear were white or black, Michael Jordan’s red accented Nike’s did not go over well with the NBA. The first release of the shoe did not include any white and, according to David Stern, this was against NBA rules. Jordan would be fined for every game he wore his new kicks until the shoe that is being retro released today came out for the first time in 1985 that included white. Jordan would lace these up for the majority of his rookie year. This pair will be available at House of Hoops by Foot Locker and on Footlocker.com for $110.
The Knicks colorway of the Jordan Retro 1 Hi is also known as the “Apple Head” as was Instagrammed by Jordan’s own Carmelo Anthony last week. A graphic of an apple wearing Carmelo’s signature headband can be found under the heel on the insole. The apple’s stem in a shape of Carmelo’s number seven. The game royal/team orange colorway leaves no doubt what city these kicks rep. The “Apple Head” 1s will be available at House of Hoops by Foot Locker for $140.
