In an age of fashion where retro is king, retro releases aren’t limited to just signature player shoes. One of the most popular basketball shoes straight from the NBA hardwood of the 90′s will be retroed for the first time this weekend – the Nike Air Way Up. Initially dropping in three colorways at Foot Locker, the Air Way Up in the Chicago Bulls colorway was the shoe of choice for NBA Hall of Famer and, more recently, diplomat, Dennis Rodman. In addition to the Bulls colorway, the Air Way Up will also drop in a black/white colorway and a cool grey/white colorway. Both the black and grey releases of the Way Up feature a nubuck upper, while the Bulls colorway is made of smooth leather. The Way Ups feature a mid top feel with an Air Max bubble in the heel. If you’re thinking that the Air Way Up looks a lot like the Air Penny 1, you’d be right. Designed as a takedown version of the Penny 1, the Air Way Up is in the same family of sneakers as those original Pennys.
The Nike Air Way Up Collection drops at Foot Locker, House of Hoops by Foot Locker, and online at Footlocker.com (starting at 8:00 am EST) on Saturday, April 13. Each pair will retail for $120. To see which stores are getting the collection go to the Launch Locator here.
