The Nike Dunk High did not get updated; it underwent a complete transformation. The Dunk Free High fuses together materials and inspiration from Nike’s most popular models and innovations to become more breathable, lighter, and overall a better performance sneaker than its original. What remains from the original Dunk is just the perforated leather toe box. The outsole was remade with inspiration coming from the popular Free outsole. The outsole has more flex grooves to improve flexibility and traction. The midfoot was constructed with Hyperfuse to enhance breathability and ventilation. The neoprene upper and the tongue circle logo may be tributes to the Huarache line which changed the game in terms of better fit and lightweight performance. Finally, the detached panels starting from the heel appear to be inspired from the Foamposite because of their pronounced grooves. The first two colorways to release are black/green and purple/pink.
The Nike Dunk High Free will release for $110 and will be available in select Foot Locker stores starting this weekend. Check out the Launch Locator to find out which stores will carry this release and let us know what you think of the shoe in the comments.
