Air Force 1

Whether you are a woman wearing them in red satin to your wedding, a guy wearing them in all black to brave the Baltimore winter, or anyone wearing them literally anywhere in all white, the Nike Air Force 1 is truly a legendary sneaker. Originally designed in 1982 by Bruce Kilgore(who also designed the Air Jordan 2), the Air Force 1 was the premier hoops shoe of its day. It not only offered premium ankle support in its high cut version, it was the first Nike Basketball shoe to feature Air cushioning. It also was designed with durability in mind, and was constructed by stitching the sole to the upper.

Whether you call them Forces, Ones, Uptowns or something all your own, the sheer volume of releases of AF1s is staggering. Jewels, double Swooshes, canvas, Sheeds, Highs, Lows, Mids, mesh panels, Inside Outs - the plethora of styles and materials that have been offered makes this shoe as versatile as it gets. The Air Force 1's broad appeal has made it one of the most well known sneakers in history. -Zac, Sole Collector Magazine
