The Converse All Star has become the industry standard for casual footwear. It is far removed from its basketball roots today, but it has a place in virtually every other facet of the sneaker world imaginable. Relatively inexpensive, and released in a countless variety of colorways and materials, the All Star is truly a staple of pop culture.Best known for their canvas upper and rubber sole, the All Star was popularized by Chuck Taylor, a basketball player and Converse employee. After Taylor worked to improve on the original design, his changes were adopted and his name was added to the model, and the rest is history. Since that time the shoe has been embraced by every scene from punk rock, to hip-hop and skate.
