Jordan V

The Tinker Hatfield designed Air Jordan V saw some major changes from the IV. The cut was now higher, and the mesh used on the midfoot and tongue was clear. The outsole also featured clear sections "two to be exact" one of which displayed a Jumpman logo, visible through the translucent sole. The outsole wasn't just for looks though. It featured a herringbone pattern that improved the traction in a major way. The Air Jordan V would also mark the introduction of the use of lace locks in the line, which have been seen on many models since. The plastic-enclosed lock gave a new way to keep your shoes from coming unlaced on the court. Another groundbreaking and influential feature could be found on the Black/Black/Metallic Silver and White/Black/Fire Red colorways - the use of 3M. The top of their large, angular tongues sported a 3M material that literally made them glow. -Zac, Sole Collector Magazine
